LifeCycles Cycling Club is a friendly and welcoming, West Leeds cycling club, catering for all abilities. Formed in 2014 with just a few of us riding out on a Sunday, we now run regular social rides and training rides and an ever-popular and growing mountain biking scene. We also run a competitive Road Race Team which welcomes juniors, women, and seniors. We are affiliated to British Cycling, the CTT (Cycling Time Trials) and YCF (Yorkshire Cycling Federation).
You can be part of our club simply by turning up to one of our rides which are listed here, on the club noticeboard in the shop, on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/lifecyclescyclingclub/) or on Twitter @LifeCyclesLeeds: https://twitter.com/LifeCyclesLeeds.
Our main road rides are on Saturdays and Sundays, we meet at the shop for an 9.30am start on a Saturday and generally head out for 30-40 miles at a steady pace that everyone is happy with. If there are enough people attending and a variation in abilities, we can run 2 routes, one longer/ quicker/ hillier route, the other being the bit shorter/ steadier & flatter route. Both will include a cafe stop halfway round and no-one gets left behind. The Saturday Socials are perfect for newcomers as well as more experienced riders.
Our Sunday rides are for experienced riders only and do not include a cafe stop, unless otherwise agreed in advance or during the ride! The Sunday rides are generally 50 miles or more, can be hilly or flat, and are designed to be a proper training ride. We leave Lawnswood Cemetery at 9, or meet at the shop around 8.20 to arrive at Lawnswood before 9.
Our Tuesday and Thursday evening rides run from March to October, leave the shop at 6.30pm and will be 30-45 miles depending on terrain/ abilities. There are no cafe stops and we use the same routes every week.
We also run Wednesday night mountain bike rides, on a fortnightly basis, which leave the shop at 7.30pm. We head out on local loops which generally last approx 2.5hrs. These are good fun - especially when it gets dark! You must have lights though! We also do one weekend MTB ride per month where we head out to a trail centre or some other location and spend the day in that area. These offer variety and allow the more adventurous amongst us to test our technical ability! All mountain bike rides cater for the complete novice up to the very experienced - you make the ride as hard you want it to be!Our members take part in local events such as Triathlons, Reliability Rides, Time Trials, Road Races, and Crits. Several of our members enter Sportives in Yorkshire and around the country, where possible we encourage those entering to ride as a group and show off the club colours! If you are taking part in an event please post on Facebook, Twitter, or the club noticeboard in the shop.
