Stage 1 Bike Service

All bikes that are booked in to our workshop received a Proper Bike Shop 51 point Bike Check - free of charge! This determines exactly what state your bike is in, what needs work, and if there are any parts that may need replacing.

The Stage 1 Service is ideal for bikes less than a year old or older bikes that have not been used much, this service is a great way to ensure your bike is ready for the rigours of the road or trail!

Stage 1 Service includes:

1. 1. 51 Point Health Check
   2. Inflate tyres to recommended pressure
   3. Lubricate seatpost and ensure correct torque
   4. Eliminate play in headset
   5. Ensure bars and stem are straight and bolts tightened to correct torque
   6. Clean & lubricate transmission - full strip down and degrease is additional £30
      
   7. Eliminate play in bottom bracket
   8. Index front and rear derailleur, check chain tension
      
   9. Eliminate play in hubs front and rear
   10. Wheel true front and rear
   11. Ensure wheels are centered and attached correctly
       
   12. Centre brakes ensure wheels run freely
   13. Set up brakes correctly (brake bleeds additional)
       
   14. Final wipe down of bike and wheels
   15. Test ride for function under load

If during the course of the service you require any parts fitting or cables replacing, an additional labour charge is incurred for fitting of parts, and the parts costs are also additional. If there are a lot of parts to be fitted, it is recommended that a Stage 2 service is more appropriate as the labour fee would end up less.

We can also carry out a full bike clean using professional workshop products and techniques which is charged at £60, and cleaning of transmission only can also be carried out for £30.
